I think it’s time for a little intro and why I am starting all over. Again.
My name is Sarah Ann and I am a stay at home mom to three amazing kiddos (twin 10yo boys and a 4yo boy), wife to a kickass husband, photographer, yoga instructor at times and wine snob who is working on getting that WSET!! We moved late last year into our newly built home just on the other side of our current town in NC. We moved from Atlanta, GA back in 2013 when my twins were just 3 years old, into the unknown. I had never lived outside of Georgia so it was a huge step for me (I’m a Taurus, and we don’t like change)! But, 7 years later, here we are. Our family grew a little bit bigger and we needed more space… and boy did we get this building process going at the right time. When Covid hit us back in March we were all under the bubble of stress and just one on top of the other! Our house was stalled because of set backs in lumber supplies and well, people just weren’t allowed to work for a period of time. Incredibly stressful!
When we decided to build our forever home I could not wait to start the decorating process! I have always loved decorating. When I was younger, I would rearrange my bedroom every season. I painted rooms any color that suited me at the time (errr hello darkest of dark navy bedroom and cherry red dining room… not a good look). Antique shopping and repurposing items was my jam, and still is. But, just a little more sophisticated. And making collages of all rooms like any young girl would do. Now, I just do it in Photoshop.
Once the building process started I immediately started spinning my styling wheels. And man, am I glad I started when I did. It seemed as though the whole world had stopped and no one had anything in stock. As if this story is new to you! Things were on back order, and then on back order again. Lead times were 12 to 16+ weeks. It was a nightmare with a few companies… not naming names, PB.
I knew I wanted to journal everything, write about my process and share my favorite pieces. Obviously Instagram is a great place to start. But, first I needed a new profile and name. Choosing a “professional” profile name is a bit like choosing your child’s name, hard AF and changing it 1,000 times. After a while it hit me, 509, or five oh nine. Our new address is just one number different from our old, and we are a family of 5. It’s like it was meant to be. This house was meant to be. This neighborhood was meant to be. Once in a while you just all fall into place, like someone out there in the universe just picks you up and sets you down.
And so here we are! I am ready for this new chapter. Maybe it’s a brand new book at this point. Whatever we want to call it, I am here. for. this. That all being said, I am working on the Instagram over-share process that one must apparently master in order to create a following. And I am definitely going to bring the content you want to see and hear all about! Let me know if there is anything out there you’re interested in seeing. DIYs, recipes, styling, fashion… I love it all and will keep it coming.
PS – don’t forget to find me on Instagram AND Facebook to stay up to date with all the things XO
