This year’s Halloween party included a lot of kids! So things couldn’t be too scary or “grown up”. And in order for the kids to have some fun/entertainment at our boo~bash, there needed to be something to search for. Sort of like an Easter egg hunt. Just with creepy coffins, not cute little eggs…
Michael’s had these great paper boxes in the shape of pumpkins, skulls & coffins. I chose the coffins because there were no holes for bugs to crawl into & I already had black spray paint on hand.
Half of the boxes were painted black. One lucky winner received a nice, shiny coffin all for herself.
{Side note: I have given up on Krylon paints. Their spray paint cans just didn’t work out for me. They were runny, sprayed everywhere except what I was aiming for, & the glitter blast paint can wouldn’t stop spraying! So only one coffin top was graced with a little sparkle. From now on I’m sticking with Rust-Oleum & Design Master.}
As for the other coffins, I kept them in their craft paper glory & added a spooky bat or spider to the lid. I used the same small stencils & black paint as I did here.
Inside they found a gummy~like, stretchy skeleton & either a spinning whistle, Halloween stickers or a pumpkin full of bubbles. And if your coffin didn’t have something that you wanted, why check the treat bucket! I put the remaining toys in the treat bucket so no one would want someone else’s loot & I wouldn’t have to keep the rest in my home.
