I love Halloween. It’s dark, mysterious, fun for every age, haunted houses to scare the youknowwhat out of you, parties, vintage thrillers that make you look under your bed {twice} before you go to sleep at night, & yummy treats on every corner… Did I mention I love Halloween?!
SO much so that my husband & I would throw a Halloween bash every year! They were F~U~N! Everyone would get dressed up, have some good food, drink, talk, drink, eat… And some time between 11 & 12 someone would get the brilliant idea to go out & hit the bar scene!
Then we got pregnant, had twins & things like alcohol induced Halloween parties were put on hold for a while… but now we’re back! I cannot wait for next weekend. This year will be a wee bit different, of course. Little monsters & goblins will be in our home wreaking havoc with a sugar high, while their parents try & watch a little football & have some “punch”. It’s going to be great! There are moments when I look back on our “adult” Halloween parties, the “adult” costumes & late night visits to the local watering hole… I’m kinda glad those days are gone. I like mini~monsters, pirates, princesses & goblins much, much better!
This week I am going to show a few of my DIY projects for our party {with a free PDF or two} & tell you about the gory food that I’m serving my unsuspecting guests next weekend.
First, I want to share with you a very simple project that looks spooktacular! I saw this pin a couple of months back & didn’t even have to look at the instructions, they spoke for themselves it’s that easy!
A Spider’s Jar
Items Needed:
jars {with a lip if you plan to hang them}
faux spider web
plastic spiders
LED tea lights
{wire, cutter & shephards hooks if hanging}
Cut as much web as needed. Pull it apart to make it fuller & more realistic. Then, stuff it in a jar!
Place your light inside the jar under the web if you can {turned on when needed}.
Add a spider or two inside where visible.
{Cut your wire & wrap around lip of jar leaving a loop to hang.}
I plan on hanging these lanterns along our driveway in odd spots & around our patio using little shepherds hooks {I’ll probably look at Home Depot} & wire. I have saved a few sauce jars, pickle jars, & even olive jars here & there. I want the look to have an old, witches house feel to it! I don’t know any spooky, old witches with perfectly aligned, exact same size lanterns! Do you?!
Happy DIYing! And happy weekend!
XOXO
